If you want to have a formative hand in shaping the future, you have to understand the present and learn from the past.

    Cornhill

Cornhill is one of the principal streets in the heart of the traditional square mile of the City of London. 68-73 Cornhill is situated midway between the Bank of England and Lloyds of London.

73 Cornhill dates from 1896 and has an imposing façade with 6 over sized Atlantes figures supporting a parapet of little Abyssinian lions. Previously used as a Bank, the listed building was comprehensively and sympathetically refurbished in 2015. Comprising of a lower ground, ground and first floor, with ornate decorated plaster ceilings. The addition of striking modern glass meeting rooms has enabled the traditional banking hall to now be used as an open plan office.

68 Cornhill was completely redeveloped in 1984, the development won several awards. The elevation is in Portland Stone, in keeping with 73 Cornhill.  The upper floors overhang number 73, to offer open plan offices of 4,000 to 5,000 feet. The building was comprehensively refurbished in 2016, the contemporary office accommodation is over 6 floors, with storage for bikes and showers on the lower ground floor. The reception area was remodelled and is now an impressive, spacious light entrance to the building and meeting area.

Architecture is one of the fine arts. Our planning office attaches great value to the role of art in the public domain. This commitment is expressed not only in our efforts to preserve, restore and revitalize buildings of historic and architectural value. We also afford access to works of contemporary art at public places that are open to everyone. In some cases, works of art are acquired for the purpose of displaying them in or near suitable buildings for a wider audience to behold. In others, prominent artists are commissioned to handle the entire creative process from the inceptive design to its implementation.
